Transports are wRIM method of accessing other IM Systems such as AIM, Yahoo, MSN and IRC.
As we bring the transports online you'll be able to register with them and gain access to your buddy lists on these other systems. Please remember you won't be able to use all the extras that come with those other clients but you will be able to add/remove and chat with friends on those systems.
To Setup:
1) In your buddy list window go to Tools, Transports
2) Select the Transport you wish to setup by clicking on it.
3) Follow the prompts for entering your account information.
4) Once done, click OK and if it connected successfully you should see any online friends
mixed into your contacts list.
Setup for IRC Chat:
1) First setup the Transport:
-Address is your IRC nickname (The server we connect to is irc.coldfront.com)
example: jester
-Password can be left blank
-Fill in the Nickname field (most likely will be the same as the Address field)
example: jester
2) Create a new chatroom bookmark
-Click on Actions
-Hover over Bookmarked Conference Rooms
-Click on Add a Bookmark
-In Conference Room Address put the #

will connect you to Dementia Radio's IRC Chat room.
Current Transport Bugs & Incompatibilities:
-
Currently there is a problem with the MSN Transport. You can still use it without issue, however, it displays every contact's name as their status message, not their username. So most of your MSN contacts will show up as "No Status Message" since many don't bother to use that feature. *UPDATE: In the "Transports" Window if you turn off "Allow MSN contacts to change their nickname" users names will show up in a legible manner.
-
Yahoo and AIM File Transfer functions are not compatible with the wRIM's system. You can only send files to other wRIM windows client users.
